How He Asked: The day Dave proposed he got me up at 4 am, and I had no idea where we were going. (He told me it was the zombie apocalypse.) We drove about an hour and I still had no clue what was going on. We pulled up in someone’s driveway and walked around to their backyard. A man walked out of the house and introduced himself to us. He then proceeded to open up a trailer and inside the trailer was the parts of a hot air balloon. Dave was taking me on a hot air balloon. I had never been on one. I remember they had a hard time inflating the balloon. It took several try’s, and finally on the last try they got it inflated. The proposal was magical. I wanted him to propose for several years and he had always told me to be patient. Dave wanted to make it special. That was a day I will never forget. Dave had purchased the diamond ring on Jewelers row in Philadelphia. He had told me that while he was designing the engagement ring his car got towed.
Details of the Day: Our ceremony and reception were held at the Old York Country Club in Chesterfield, NJ. It was the first and only venue we looked at. I will never forget the day we went over there to check it out. I immediately told Dave, “We’re getting married here.”
Old York Country Club had everything I had envisioned for my wedding day. Within moments, I decided I did not want to look at any other venues. I knew that this was the place. I loved what Old York Country Club had to offer: the gazebo overlooking the golf course, the outside patio for the cocktail hour and the elegant ballroom. Our wedding day was held on a beautiful and hot summer day. Our ceremony was held outside at the gazebo. We had a beautiful garland of flowers above the gazebo. Dave and I also chose a sand blending ceremony. Our cocktail hour was held outside on the patio at sunset, while the bridal party went out on golf carts to the greens for pictures. Our reception included display monitors that would display pictures of Dave and I, and our guests throughout the evening, a personalized lighting hologram on the wall, up lighting, a photo booth for our guests and each table had pin spots on the centerpieces. Our wedding planner Melanie went beyond our expectations. She was the reason our wedding was flawless.
Favorite Wedding Moment: Our first dance was breathtaking. Dave and I danced in the clouds to Ed Sheran’s, Photograph. I looked around as all eyes were on Dave and I. I remember thinking to myself all of these people here were here for us. Also, when my father walked me down the isle I was so afraid I was going to trip on my dress. So he helped hold my dress while we walked. It was the sweetest thing ever. Just as my father helped me all my life.
Favorite Detail: Our sweetheart setup was the most incredible thing anyone had ever seen. We wanted to do something distinctive. Our DJ MAZZ Entertainment created a LED stage that Dave and I sat up on. The stage was transparent and stuffed with gorgeous flowers that our florist created. The stage would light up different colors throughout the evening. It was truly stunning. In addition, we had candles and floral arrangements alongside the table. Our flowers were also magnificent. They were exactly what I envisioned. Chesterfield Floral Co. created beautiful vibrant colors in the bouquets, centerpieces, and the flower garland.
