Details of the day: Our families’ and friends’ enjoyment was the most important factor when planning our wedding. We have the absolute best, most generous, most supportive families and friends, and we knew we would only be happy if they were having a good time. We were going for a pretty formal affair, but since those closest to us really like to drink, eat, and be merry, we also wanted to throw the most fun party possible! Once that was decided, everything else fell into place… we needed a huge space, an energetic band, LOTS of food, and a couple of fun surprises. Everyone really loved the vodka gummy bear ice pops at the karaoke after party!
Your favorite part: So many favorite parts of the day! It wasn’t just the wedding day that was special… it was our entire year engagement, which all summed up perfectly for an awesome wedding weekend. The wedding planned process included so many opportunities to spend time with our loved ones, as did the wedding weekend. We loved getting to spend 3 days straight with our best friends, our family from all over the East Coast, and, most importantly, each other. Also, we had a huge bridal party (around 40 people), and for our first look, I made my way down the steps to see my soon-to-be husband for the first time that day, and my entire bridal party was at the bottom of the stairs cheering! My heart exploded. I started to tear up, which made it even harder to walk down the steps without falling!
If you could change one thing about your wedding what would it be? We got married in August in hopes of having good weather, but it was the hottest day of the year (100 degrees at night!). Unfortunately, the heat ruined my plans for an outdoor ceremony and outdoor pictures. But once the day got started, I forgot all about what didn’t work out as planned because I was too busy trying to process every moment because I wanted to be able to cherish the memories of the day forever.
Advice for other brides: There are so many options when wedding planning, and everything everyone suggests and everything you see looks beautiful. When narrowing options down, remember to stick with what feels right for you, your fiance, and your family.
