Let’s face it, cake and coffee just don’t cut it anymore. After 10 p.m., brides and grooms are serving up late-night snacks (think greasy, delicious indulgences) as they finish off their cocktails and move on to the after-party. And the reigning champ of fun food is the hot dog, with gourmet ones to boot.

Max’s Famous Hot Dogs of Long Branch, serving Shore foodies for more than 87 years, is now making its mark at weddings, with Max’s Hot Dogs On Wheels. This truck, with a fun Jersey-proud exterior design, has an original flattop grill used in the 1950s that’s perfect for cooking up your wedding-day dogs.
Kate and Jeffrey Gorenstein (above), who got married at home last September, rave about Max’s. “From our first summer together, Max’s has always been a favorite—so it only made sense to share them with our guests,” says Kate. Max’s will even cater rehearsal dinners.

Kathy Marino is also no stranger to the hot-dog wedding craze. She and husband Robert (above) took a trip to Tony’s Specialized Hot Dogs in Newark right after they said “I do” on July 12, 2014. Passersby cheered and congratulated Kathy as she snacked in her wedding dress. “It was great and just added to the excitement of the day,” she says. Tony’s has been located on the corner of Park Avenue and Lake Street since 1968, but has plans to mobilize in the near future.

Whether your desired dog is dressed up with “the works” (Max’s “big piggy” has crispy bacon, chili, cheese and onions, while Tony’s is all about the hot onions, chili, kraut and relish) or just plain and simple—hot dogs are in high demand.
