There’s a ton of wedding movies out there—and some are pretty bad. So we’ve compiled a list of what we think are the best wedding movies—from sweet and romantic to silly and fun. They’re perfect for a marathon weekend when you’re being forced to stay inside. Snuggle up with your fiancé, or just watch them alone. These movies will make you laugh, cry and maybe even inspire you with some new fun ideas. And if we’ve left your favorite off the list, be sure to let us know. Enjoy!

 

 

1. Father of the Bride (1950 & 1991): Both of these versions have become wedding classics and worth watching back to back. It’s hard to say which is our favorite, but any movie list without Steve Martin is one we don’t want to be apart of.

 

 

2. Love Story (1970): You can’t get much more romantic than this film featuring Ryan O’Neal and Ali MacGraw. But be sure to have plenty of tissues on hand for this tragic tear-jerker.

 

 

3. Sweet Home Alabama (2002): Young Reese Witherspoon is adorable in this romantic comedy where she has to choose between Patrick Dempsey and Josh Lucas. If only my life had such difficult decisions.

 

4. Enchanted (2007): This storybook romance is a must for any Disney fanatic, with Amy Adams traveling from a fairy-tale world and landing in modern Manhattan only to be swept off her feet by Patrick Dempsey (again).

 

5. My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997): Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney and Cameron Diaz make up the wedding love triangle in this cute rom-com, where you can’t help but sing along to “I Say a Little Prayer.”

 

6. My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002): You’ll never look at Windex the same way again in this hysterical Greek wedding story.

7. Bridesmaids (2012): Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne all star in this Judd-Apatow hit movie, where Wiig winds her way through all of the rituals associated with being a maid of honor.

8. Wedding Crashers (2005): Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are up to their usual antics, this time living the charmed lives of wedding crashers.  All is fun and games until Wilson falls in love.

 

9. Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994): Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell keep running into one another at a series of events. Will their timing ever be right?

 

10. The Wedding Planner (2001): Jennifer Lopez falls in love with Matthew McConaughey—but doesn’t realize she’s the wedding planner for his upcoming wedding!

 

11. 27 Dresses (2008): A classic “always the bridesmaid never the bride” moment. Katherine Heigl is the perennial bridesmaid in this fun rom-com, where she worries her collection of (hideous) bridesmaid dresses will never stop.

12. The Wedding Singer (1998): Adam Sandler plays a wedding singer, who abandoned at the altar by his fiancé but then meets Drew Barrymore. He spends the entire movie trying to win her over before she goes through with her own wedding.

 

 

13. Bride Wars (2009): Best friends, played by Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, have always dreamt about getting married at the Plaza in June and having each other as maid of honor. But when circumstances have them both booked on the same day, “war” breaks out.

 

14. The Princess Bride (1987): This classic fairytale adventure, based on the novel by William Goldman with a cult following, is about a young woman and her true love…and how they must battle evil to be together.

 

15. The Hangover (2009): No wedding movie list is complete with a mention of Justin Bartha, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis’s wild bachelor party in Vegas. It’s a great “Don’t Try This” lesson for you and your fiancé.

16. Love Actually (2003): Ok so maybe this is more of a holiday film. But it does feature an epic wedding at the beginning of the film that serves as the main connection between all of the characters. Plus that surprise “All You Need is Love” in the middle of the ceremony is everything.

17. Crazy Rich Asians (2018): This movie will go down in history as one of the most over-the-top weddings we have ever seen. Based on the book, Constance Wu stars as a girl headed to her boyfriend’s best friend’s wedding only to find out his entire family is extremely rich, and very crazy.
