One New Jersey bride made the best of a smokey situation after she and her 250 wedding guests had to be evacuated from Bonnet Island Estate Friday night.

Allison Duffy didn’t let a routine fire call interfere too much with her wedding day, aside from the fact that guests had to wait outside for about 30 minutes as they searched the premise to find what was causing a “burning odor.” After everything was taken care of, Duffy approached Deputy Chief Bill O’Niell and asked if she could get a photograph with the firefighters before they left. Wearing one of their helmets, Duffy was hoisted in the air, raising her arms up, embracing the unexpected turn events that happened that day.

The firefighters – who were from Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Co. #1, Surf City Volunteer Fire Company and Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Co. #1 – gladly posed with the bride.  Deputy Chief O’Niell said other guests posed with the firefighters and also in front of their trucks. “It was awesome… an interesting operation.”

Photographer Drew Noel said it was a night he will never forget, “After checking out a suspicious refrigerator (or so I’ve heard) they brought the bride back into the party in style!” And Drew was there to capture the moment perfectly (as he always does), proving why he’s one of our favorite NJ photographers!
