How did you meet?
Jon and I met while freshmen at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. We dated throughout college and have been together for 8 years.

How did you get engaged?
We got engaged after graduation in May 2015. The Proposal included being serenaded by Jon and his fraternity brothers, surrounded by my family, friends, and classmates. We both attended grad school after that and planned to get married on April 19, 2020. One month before our wedding, COVID forced us to cancel our plans – we rescheduled to March 14, 2021, and were again in a position to reschedule…our third date, September 6, 2021, also happened to be our 8 year anniversary, so we decided it would become our perfect date!

Details of the day!
Our theme was Classic Elegance. For flowers, I had a cascade bouquet with white peony, Eskimo rose, white ranunculus, white hydrangea, white astilbe, and silver brunia. We also had assorted foliage to provide free form look. To end our reception, we had 1 more surprise waiting for our guests – we rented a Mr. Softee truck as our “favor” — we called it “a sweet end to a new beginning” I had a handmade personalized cake topper of us in our wedding day outfits made on Etsy. My bridesmaid dresses were from Azazie in Agave. We did various dresses to allow for each bridesmaid’s personal style to shine. At our reception, we included photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days to pay homage to the loving couples that are the reason we’re here today.

Since we postponed TWICE, we really wanted everyone to have the best time! We included signage near the bars that read “we waited an extra 505 days for this – please party accordingly!” Our linens were ivory, we utilized thin gold flower stands for our centerpieces, acrylic and gold table numbers, and votive candles. Sweetheart table – we kept it simple with an ivory Mr. and Mrs. sign, gold lanterns, candles, and the bridesmaid bouquets. We had indoor fireworks boxes that went off when we entered the reception and during the cake cutting. A 10 piece band for our wedding was an absolute must. We are both musicians so music is really important to us. They had the dance floor PACKED all night! For our ice sculpture, we chose to have the crest of our college where we met. One piece of jewelry I wore that day was extra special – a blue topaz and diamond ring from my great aunt (who I also shared a birthday with) this was my something old and blue.

Why did you choose your venue?
We both love the beach and wanted a venue on the water. Clarks provided the traditional elegant vibe we were going for – the touches of ivory, gold, and beautiful artwork adorning the walls were a perfect fit. They also have the most breathtaking sunset view over the water. The staff there is unmatched and we knew we were in good hands when booking with them.

What was on your menu?
Everyone raved about cocktail hour – there was so much food, truly something for everyone. Sushi/sake bar, giant cheese wheel filled with pasta, carefully crafted fruit and veggie display, wine and cheese pairings…and more! Our guests had a Roasted Pear & Stilton Cheese Salad. For an entree, there was a choice of Chateaubriand Marinated Tenderloin of Beef, roasted to perfection; served with Forestiere Sauce and Hasselback Potatoes Chicken Marquis Tender Breast of Chicken stuffed with Spinach, Provolone, Roasted Red Peppers and Sun-Dried Tomatoes; served with Hasselback Potatoes Seafood Trio Olive Oil Poached Shrimp, Seared Bay Scallops, and Salmon Teriyaki; served with Wild Herbed Rice Vegetarian Option Available. Our cake was vanilla and Chocolate layers with strawberries in between; swaths of gold painted on with fresh flowers to coordinate with the bouquets. In addition to cake, there was Apple Crumb Tart, Molten Chocolate Cake and Vanilla Cheesecake.

All about your gown!

This was the one because of its intricate detailing and romantic flare — I wanted some sparkle, which came with the beautiful crystal buttons down the back and Swarovski crystals all over. It was a lace and organza mermaid wedding dress with an illusion plunging V. There was a tiered tulle and Marquice Organza skirt with horsehair edging.

What was your favorite moment?
I had 2 favorite moments! 1. while I was getting ready I received a flower delivery, 8 beautiful long stem red roses to commemorate being together for 8 years that day and starting the next chapter as husband and wife. I thought it was such a romantic touch that my now husband thought of. It made me feel so special and loved and excited for the day ahead.

2. our Nuptial Mass which included a choir made up of our closest friends from college – meant so much to us that they were able to sing throughout our ceremony.

Did anything go wrong?
No! I think postponing twice trumped any little detail that could have gone wrong the day of.

First dance song?
Ed Sheeran – Perfect For our first dance, we added Dancing on Clouds for a romantic effect.

Any advice for future brides?
Enjoy every second of planning and the day itself – it truly goes by so quickly (and I even had an extra year and a half to plan!) – don’t worry about things going wrong because when you wake up the morning of your wedding any nerves or worries will float away.

Honeymoon Location?
We went to Greece the day after the wedding! We spent 2 weeks traveling between Santorini, Mykonos, and Athens. Being half Greek I’ve always wanted to travel there and I’m so glad we got the opportunity. We were nervous because of COVID, but after postponing our wedding twice, we decided to move forward with the trip. We are SO glad we didn’t push it off – everyone there was so nice and they took every COVID precaution. It was truly the trip of a lifetime.
