Jessica and Nick wed on March 15, 2024 at Maritime Parc in Jersey City. They initially met at the start of a program called Remote Year, on “the same day we met the 73 other people who were crazy enough to join us in Prague to travel the world for a year while we worked remotely.”
“Nick was able to woo me with his VPN that allowed him to catch up on HBO shows while most of us were just missing Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley episodes early on,” Jessica says.
They both moved to New York after the program ended, and, “three apartments, a dog and many domestic and international trips later, we’re here.”
Nick popped the question in their kitchen.
“We went out to one of our favorite restaurants in the neighborhood and then spent the rest of the evening calling friends and family and watching our favorite movie, The Greatest Showman,” says the bride.
The jet-setting couple added travel-inspired details throughout their wedding, starting with the ceremony. The officiant, using a pilot’s voice, instructed guests to take their seats like they were passengers on a plane.
Place cards, guest book and centerpieces all embraced the couple’s love of travel and the many places they’ve been, with globes, postcards and other beautifully done and personal touches.
The couple held their first look at the waterfront in Jersey City, on a sunny and clear day in March. They then headed to the train station for additional photos before making their way to the beautiful venue.
Jessica’s ring, from Erica Weiner. It’s an acrostic ring. “Each side is a diamond, then the jewels in the middle are Feldspar, Iolite, Citrine, and Opal—acrostically spelling my new last name, Fico,” explains Jessica.
