After seeing the Monopoly board game proposal, it had us wondering what other creative proposals are out there. Thanks to websites like Reddit and Imgur, it was pretty easy for us to find exactly what we were looking for. The proposal we found was posted three years ago, but we still think it’s worth mentioning. And while this Imgur user didn’t exactly build his own game board, he did come up with a clever way to surprise his girlfriend with an unforgettable proposal… by using a board game. His game of choice? Pictionary.Â
The way he executed his proposal is pretty impressive. First he went through all the Pictionary cards in the deck until he found one that had the word “marry” on it. Through “obsessive photoshopping” he added the word “me” to the end of the word “marry” to create the perfect proposal card.
“On Friday night, we had some of our friends over for a game night. Halfway through the game, with the help of a friend, I rigged it so that my girlfriend would draw the card on her turn. No one else knew about my plan.”
Sticking with the plan, his girlfriend pulled the “marry me” card and it was her turn to draw a picture. (Her actual drawing is below.)
“She started drawing and we all started guessing. I was already on my knee and had the ring hidden in my hand. As she drew, I shouted out a lot of fake guesses like “ring!”, “propose!”, “marry!”, “getting engaged!” — I wanted her to work for it. Finally when the moment was right, I shouted “MARRY ME!” and she said “yeah!” excited that I had finally guessed it. Then I looked at her, held out the ring, and calmly said, “Will you marry me?” She was equal parts shocked and confused and it took her a good few seconds to realize what was happening. Her first words were, “WHAT?!?”, followed by, “What is thaaat?!”, and finally, “Where did you get that??” She was beyond shocked.”
After a lot of excitement and a little confusion, he was still waiting for an answer. “So is that a yes?!” he asked. She promptly replied with a “YES!” How could she not?! What a pictionary-perfect proposal!
