How did you meet?
Timmy and I first met at the spa when my friends and I went to go pick up my apartment mate who started working at the juice bar. My initial impression of Timmy was that he was cute and totally my type, but I had no interest in dating at that time since my previous relationship didn’t pan out as long as I wanted it to. Concurrently, as a full-time student, I had zero interest in finding a part time job, but my sister, however, encouraged me to start working there as well so that I would be able to gain some experience in the work field and earn some allowance for myself. I applied and was hired to start working at the juice bar the following week and little did I know that Timmy’s and my relationship would start there. I started depending on Timmy, who was actually the juice bar captain at the time, as I started my part time job as a juice bar attendant. And though we exchanged numbers solely for communicating during work hours, he started texting me outside of work. I was hesitant at first to establish a friendship with him outside of the workplace because I didn’t want certain lines to be crossed and it also seemed like a couple of my female coworkers had crushes on him. Despite my efforts of eluding his holiday text messages with curt short answers, our friendship along with my interest in him started growing the more we worked together. I started to look forward to seeing him stop by the juice bar whenever he took “a break from work” or whenever he came by to “grab a drink”, I even started looking forward to our busiest times because that meant that he would have to come in and help us with customers and taking orders; I even remember calling him my “knight in shining armor” when he came to the rescue. Then on one stormy snowy night, Timmy and I ended up in a mini snowball fight in front of Island Spa after it had to close down early for the sake and security of the customers’ travels back home. There were sparks flying as were the snowballs that we threw at each other and because of that night, about 2 weeks later he asked me to be his girlfriend on February 6, 2016. Now I’m extremely happy to call him my fiancé and it’s all thanks to my sister, my friends, and especially Island Spa for unknowingly cultivating and encouraging my relationship with him.

How did you get engaged?
A week before the proposal, Jackie, Timmy’s older sister, originally invited Timmy and I to attend a Halloween Masquerade Black Tie Event in Brooklyn that she was professionally shooting photos for. As the evening of the event drew nearer, I, excitedly, started getting ready by applying my makeup and even going through the trouble of curling my hair. I even went all the way to Spirit Halloween with my friend to get a masquerade mask for the event. And all the while, little did I know that Timmy secretly gathered my friends and family members to Island Spa to surprise me with his proposal. When it was time to leave for Brooklyn, Timmy said that we had to make a quick stop by Island Spa before heading to the event. As my friend and I were waiting for Timmy to finish his business, he suddenly called and asked me to come in to help him with something. Puzzled and in a hurry, I ran into the spa and saw the first out of four stations he had prepared for me. After I read the first poem at the first station, I followed the rose petals that led me to the second station and slowly started to realize what was happening to me in that exact moment as I heard one of my favorite songs, “Moon River”, playing through the speakers. Then there he stood at the third station, behind the juice bar — where we first met. He handed me a bouquet of red roses and led me to the fourth and final station where I read his final poem. When I finished reading his last poem for me, he went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. In a state of joy and shock, I nodded yes and all my friends and family members came out from the saunas and sleeping room surprising me and congratulating us on our engagement.
