amanda-greg-blue-heron-pines — How did you meet?

We met in 2012 hanging out in downtown Westfield, NJ behind the Starbucks, where all the cool kids used to chill. We were just a couple of retired scene kids that bonded over our similar taste in music.  Greg was and is a very shy guy, so how we began talking is a funny story. I drove a couple of friends (Greg being one of them) to the store to grab some snacks. When we got back to downtown, everyone got out of my car to hang outside….or so I thought. I stayed in my car because I worked all day and my legs were so tired! As I was scrolling through my phone, I burped and heard someone say “excuse you”. I gasped and whipped my head around, and lo and behold Greg was quietly sitting in my back seat. He was too shy to say anything when everyone got out so he just sat there in silence assuming I knew he was there (which I didn’t). I invited him to sit in the front seat with me, and we literally talked and listened to music from 8 pm until 3 am. The rest is pretty much history.

How did you get engaged?
We got engaged in Disney World in front of the castle on my 25th birthday.

Details of the day!
Halloween! My now sister-in-law helped make a lot of our decorations, like the pumpkins that lined our aisles, the drink signs, our welcome sign, and even arranged the flower centerpieces herself. She did so much and I’m so thankful for her help because I am not crafty at all and I would have been so lost without her. Shout out to Kaitlyn!

Why did you choose your venue?
We chose Blue Heron because it had the rustic vibe we were looking for without breaking the bank. They offered so much in their packages and we were so blown away by how reasonable the prices were.

What was on your menu?
Beef tenderloin, shrimp and scallop scampi, and chicken piccata. I can’t remember all the appetizers since there were so many but we did have a mac and cheese bar! Our cake was almond cake, raspberry filling, and buttercream icing. I wish we had some leftover, it was THAT good.

All about your gown!
Well, I never thought I’d be the person to cry when I found THE dress. I had tried on quite a few dresses at other appointments. But, as soon as I put this one on the waterworks started and I knew this was the dress I had to have. It had everything I wanted, the sleeves, not too much beading, the right shape, and most of all it made me feel so beautiful without feeling self-conscious.

What was your favorite moment?
Other than getting married, our favorite part was all the amazing photos we got to take with Daniel and his awesome team. They made us laugh all day and night, and we had so much fun getting creative with our shots. From pumpkin heads to smoke bombs, we really went all out with creating unique and fun pictures to last us a lifetime.

One detail you couldn’t live without?
Overall, it was making sure that our spooky side showed through in our decor choices without going overboard and terrifying people haha. We had really cute Halloween touches with everything while also still keeping the autumn rustic vibe.

Did anything go wrong?
Quite a few things but what wedding really goes perfectly? It was nothing that truly impacted the wedding so negatively that it ruined our good time, just little mistakes here and there which is totally okay and expected!

Any advice for future brides?
Coming from an anxious and completely neurotic person like me, I can’t stress enough that EVERYTHING will turn out exactly like you pictured it. Try not to stress too much and enjoy the process because it’s only 24 hours and what matters most is that you’re marrying the love of your life, not what your table centerpieces look like. Also, always ask for your partner’s input when it comes to decorations and themes because it’s just as much their wedding as it is yours.
