Alexandra and Colin wed on June 17, 2023 at Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm in Jobstown.
In the summer of 2017, Alex was living in Baltimore and Colin was living in New York City. Alex’s friends planned a trip to Ocean City for Memorial Day weekend and her roommate Tommy invited some friends from high school, one of them being Colin. Alex and Colin hit it off that weekend and exchanged numbers when they left.
They quickly made plans to visit one another, and after a spontaneous trip to Coney Island, they knew they would become a big part of each other’s lives. Alex eventually got a new job and moved to New York to be closer to Colin.
Colin proposed to Alex on January 27, 2022 by surprising her with flower petals and candles in their home.
The couple calls the beautiful Johnsons Locust Hall Farm a hidden gem. After attending eight other weddings in 2023, they knew they wanted an outdoor ceremony and not a traditional ballroom vibe.
“I wanted our wedding day to have a vintage vibe,” says Alex.
The bridesmaids wore dresses in neutral champagne and the groomsmen wore slate blue suits. The florals were beige, peach, pink, light blue, white and yellow—and were between a garden and wildflower vibe.
They had a charming lounge set-up by the farm with an audio guest book.
Their welcome signs and seating charts were vintage mirrors customized for the day. Alex thrifted small touches such as the memorial photos and a vintage wedding album.
The farm’s stunning open field, which transitioned perfectly into an outdoor cocktail hour in the stone barn and grass, to a truly unique indoor reception space with all the amenities could not have been any more perfect. “Locust Hall feels like a different world,” says Alex.
“I knew that I wanted a fitted gown that was easy to get around in, that was modern and simple. I did not want lace, sequins, or tulle,” says Alex. “The Millie dress by Amsale was so perfect. The sheer back, spaghetti straps, and fit to flare silhouette made this dress the perfect pick, and I knew it was the one when I tried it on.”
“My favorite moment was hour before the ceremony, between our first look and the ceremony. All of the stress had melted away and I knew all I needed to do was walk down the aisle and marry my person.”
She continues, “The weather was perfect, and all of my wedding party and close family and friends were lounging around the beautiful vintage farmhouse drinking and laughing. I got to spend extra time with my husband before the ceremony and I knew the best moments of my life were coming up shortly. It was pure bliss!”
Live music during the ceremony. Sweet Harmony acoustic guitarists Philip and Larry played “Our Song” by Elton John for the wedding party procession, and then an acoustic version of the couple’s first dance song, “You’re the One” by Greta Van Fleet, for Alex’s walk down the aisle.
“Stick to you gut and do what you want, even if its untraditional. Don’t get married in a church just because your family wants it. Change into the party dress and sneakers to dance. Skip your cake cutting if you’re having to much fun on the dance floor. Your wedding is yours and I really believe it should reflect who you are. Don’t let anyone else sway your decisions on what you want for your big day.”
The couple went island hopping in Greece.
