Rachel and Colin tied the knot on April 29, 2023 at the Ryland Inn in Whitehouse Station. The couple first matched on Hinge in August of 2019, and soon after, Colin invited Rachel on a date at his favorite local spot in the East Village, Eliza’s Local.
“All I remember is that my pre-date jitters immediately melted away as Colin greeted me with a huge smile,” says Rachel. “As the night progressed, it felt like I’d known Colin my whole life. …I’d never felt so drawn to someone before, and I knew this was special.”
“I told her we were going to meet my brother and sister-in-law for lunch in Manhattan,” says Colin.
“We arrived early in New York and took a taxi down to the East Village to kill some time before they arrived. Little did she know both our families were on the way to meet us, right by the corner where we first met to celebrate one of the most incredible moments of our lives.”
The couple “fell in love with the homey feeling of the Ryland Inn. The venue felt warm and welcoming and also bright and airy,” says Rachel. ” We also are big foodies, and knew the Ryland Inn is known for it’s farm-to-table fresh cuisine, which we love.”
The couple’s theme was “blissful, romantic and fun.” For florals, “I wanted flowers that would pop and bring color to the room and ceremony,” says Rachel.
They included quicksand roses, hanoia ranunclus, gardenia peonies, pink anemonies and thistle Italian ruscus. Although it rained on this spring day, the couple barely even noticed—but did manage to get some fantastic photos under an umbrella.
Rachels’ favorite moments were “getting ready in the morning with all girls, walking down the aisle and seeing Colin for the first time, and my first dance mashup with my dad and Colin.” Colin says the church ceremony was “magical,” and loved the bus ride to the wedding party and the overall energy of the day.
