Kelly-Cole-Real-Wedding-Ballyowen-Crystal-Springs-ResortOur story: We grew up together in our hometown of Warwick, New York. Throughout high school we had mutual friends and always found ourselves at the same gatherings. When it came time to head off to college, Cole went to Colorado and I went to New York. Neither one of us thought twice about this. Cole spent a year out in Colorado, and then made the decision to transfer to New Hampshire. Over summer break of my junior year of college, Cole and I were both back home with our families in Warwick. It was during that summer we began dating. We worked through our long-distance relationship between New York and New Hampshire until we both graduated and moved back to Warwick.

Kelly-Cole-Real-Wedding-Ballyowen-Crystal-Springs-ResortWill you marry me? Cole’s family has a home in the Adirondacks. We headed up there for a long weekend in early November. The two of us are outdoor enthusiasts so we spend a lot of time up at his family’s home hiking, rock climbing, and fishing. I didn’t think anything of it…just another relaxing weekend up in the Adirondacks. We arrived late Friday evening, so we took our time getting up on Saturday morning. It was a cool, crisp, sunny, fall morning. By Adirondack standards the temperature was probably around 34 degrees. Cole decided he wanted to bundle up and drink our morning coffee out on the boat. So we did just that! We took our coffee to go and headed down to the dock. There was one problem though—we got about a quarter of a mile out on the lake and the water was so cold it was freezing up in the engine. We had to paddle back to shore. I know…so romantic! I now understand that was where the proposal was supposed to happen but of course didn’t because we were too busy paddling our boat back. We got back to the house and Cole started a fire as I was sitting in the living room folding a load of laundry. It was at that time he got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever girl. Of course I said yes! We then sat there and laughed as I grilled him about his plans for proposing out on the lake. Either way I could not have asked for a better proposal as the Adirondacks have always been such a huge part of our relationship.

Details of the day: I have been a part of the Crystal Springs family for almost 12 years now planning corporate events. I love where I work, so it only made sense to get married there!

We carried the rustic/fall theme through our wedding. Since we were married in the fall we gave out caramel apples as our favors. The apples were purchased from the Candy Apple Shop in Warwick, NY. If you ever find yourself in the area definitely stop in and visit the candy apple ladies. I promise it will be the best apple you ever have!

Menu: In addition to a roasted butternut squash bisque and a mixed baby greens salad with pears, walnuts and gorgonzola, guest dined on roast loan of pork with an apple-cider reduction, herbs de Provence roasted chicken and wild mushroom ravioli with truffled cream sauce. Alongside the wedding cake were chocolate-covered strawberries and a petit-four presentation.

Favorite detail: As a planner I watch many people get caught up in all of the little details of the planning process and lose sight of what the day is supposed to be about. We chose to keep our wedding simple and concentrate on what’s actually important; that is celebrating our love and sharing that excitement with our family and friends. The entire day from beginning to end was perfection. I could never pick just one favorite detail.Kelly-Cole-Real-Wedding-Ballyowen-Crystal-Springs-Resort
