Songy and Robert got married on May 4, 2024 at the Chateau Grande Hotel.
Robert and Songy met in 2013 while studying abroad in South Korea.
“I ended up getting very ill and Rob took care of me throughout the whole thing,” says Songy.
“Our first date was at a fancy French restaurant (I didn’t even know restaurants like that existed!), where we had a beautiful view of Seoul’s skyline,” she says.
“After that, we started hanging out more and more,” says Songy. “We met each other in the states and had been doing long distance for the first nine years and just recently we moved to Kansas City.”
On June 2022, Rob proposed along the Hudson River in NYC.
“It was very simple. He got down on one knee and asked, ‘Will you marry me?’ And of course I said ‘yes!'”
“Supposedly, he had much more to say but he told me afterwards that I was screaming too much so he couldn’t say much more than popping the question,” says Songy.
The couple toured many venues but the Chateau Grande Hotel was the most simple and elegant.
Another big plus was that the ceremony and reception (food, drinks, cake) could all be accomplished at this one location.
Songy and Rob chose a color palette of rose gold, pink, white and silver for their big day.
“My favorite moment was the Korean ceremony,” says Songy. “I loved sharing the beautiful Korean culture and it brought everyone at the wedding together.”
“Stay calm, it will all work out!” says the bride.
They went to Disney World for one week, where they visited every park twice.
