Details of the Day: Our wedding was on a gorgeous 65 degree sunny fall day in the middle of November. My bridesmaids and I had our hair and make up done at my aunt’s house in west Cape May while we enjoyed brunch complete with mimosas. We laughed and cried and shared stories and memories while we enjoyed this portion of the day. My then-fiance and his groomsmen got dressed and sipped on champagne at the stunning Hotel Alcott. The ceremony was held at Our Lady of the Angels in Cape May Court House. This was the church my husband grew up attending. We had a BYOP ceremony (bring your own priest) so our very good friend Fr. Jim Chern was the one to marry us. Additionally, all of the ceremony music was performed by our wonderful friends Bruce Mauro and Lauren D’Imperio. Our ceremony was so personal and everything we wanted.
After the ceremony we took pictures on the beautiful Sunset Beach in west Cape May. The sunset on our wedding day was absolutely TO DIE FOR. We couldn’t have gotten luckier. The sun made my dress sparkle so bright. After Sunset Beach, we headed over to the cocktail hour at our venue, Hotel Alcott. The food at the hotel is AMAZING and the service is outstanding. Our guests are still raving about it. Our DJ played smooth jazz music for the cocktail hour and everyone loved it. He had two sound systems, one in the lobby which was moved to the ballroom after the cocktail hour and the other in the courtyard where a second bar was fully stocked. Our DJ was also a good friend of ours which added to how special our day was to us.
After the cocktail hour we started the reception. Our grand entrance was so much fun and we had our first dance to Love Me by Yiruma, a classical piano piece (we are both musicians so this completely reflects who we are). Our dance floor was PACKED the entire night. My feet were aching by the end! At the end of the night, we all went outside and lit sparklers. It was so much fun and the sparklers looked so beautiful. I was getting nervous though because I was so afraid a spark was going to land on my dress!!!
The Dress: My dress was a Mori Lee by Madeline Gardner completely beaded lace ballgown. The dress was absolutely perfect the way it was, but I knew I wanted to do something to make it one-of-a-kind. I added a gorgeous belt and beaded cap sleeves to make it something no one else would have. I wore a cathedral length veil and a stunning beaded/pearl headband. It matched my jewelry perfectly. I have never felt so beautiful and confident in my life. I felt like a princess.
Your Favorite Part: My favorite part of the entire day is going to sound cliche, but I don’t care. The first kiss as husband and wife was so magical and romantic. I loved the feeling of finally being married and sealing the deal with my new husband with the most romantic kiss we ever had.
Advice for Other Brides: OPEN YOUR EYES. The one thing everyone said to me was the day will fly by. I am sure that everyone reading this has heard that already, but it is SO true. I made sure to keep my eyes open at all times. I don’t even think I blinked! lol! I saw everything and I am so grateful that I had people there to tell me to watch it all. So many people told me they felt like they weren’t even present at their own wedding. I can honestly say I don’t feel that way. I felt completely there and that’s because I absolutely made sure to watch every second. From the second I woke up on my wedding day until the next morning, I took in every single second.
