Ryan and I met while I was bartending after I had just graduated college. He happened to live down the street.
We got engaged at his 30th birthday party. I had a feeling it was going to happen that day because he had been acting really weird that week. He was able to propose in front of a lot of our family and friends.
As any Covid bride knows, it was so hard to plan with so much uncertainty. My venue was really good about everything, but we were in the middle of buying a house so we didn’t want to spend a lot of money on stuff if we had to postpone. I was able to order my favors and a lot of decor from Amazon. I threw together my bouquets myself from a local florist and made all my own centerpieces. I wanted a gothic rustic look without being too Halloween so I focused a lot on traditional fall colors.
The interior and views! I’ve never been a banquet hall kind of girl so this was the first place I booked to check out. The mountain top was beyond gorgeous and the reception room was perfect for my rustic vibe. Also it was such a plus to have everything in one location including lodging.
Our cocktail hour was mostly seafood passed hors d’ouevres with an upgraded steakhouse station that included tomahawk steaks. Our menu was your usual chicken and beef. Our wedding cake was chocolate and vanilla layered cake with Italian cream filling and fresh strawberries.
This gown was everything I’ve ever dreamed of. I’ve never been a typical girly girl and I knew I didn’t wanted an ivory white gown. My husband is supportive of my eccentricity, so without a doubt said I could get black. This dress was everything. The black lace overlay was perfect with the nude and white layers underneath. It was black without being too prom. Even the cut was everything I ever imagined.
Our first dance. It was the first time that day we really had a moment to ourselves and the first time I’d ever seen Ryan tear up. We were able to joke and laugh and be serious all at the same time.
Honestly nothing! Not everything turns out perfect so I pretty much just go with it.
Not on the day per-se. But the night before I was supposed to leave for my venue, my septic pipes broke and flooded my bathroom. Ryan was at his bachelor party and I was left all alone to figure it out. The entire night and day I was supposed to be doing my final touches were spent cleaning up a sewage mess.

Relax! Don’t stress the small stuff because day of it won’t even matter. You’re there with the person you love and everything will go the way it’s supposed to.
Nowhere because we’re expecting a baby! We pulled this whole wedding off while I was 17 weeks pregnant.
