Sara and Ross at Park Chateau

Posted on February 11, 2020 by Ariana Baio

We met during college after I became friends with one of Ross’s hometown friends. Ross’s friend brought me to hang out with that group of friends one night and it was an instant connection.

We were in Montego Bay, Jamaica and had a private candle lit dinner on the beach. As I was walking up, “will you marry me” was written in the sand with candles around it. Ross dropped to one knee and popped the question.

A wildflower theme with sunflowers as the focus. My girls were in an ombré of purples with the guys in a grey. Ross and I in traditional black tux and white dress. Form fitted, all lace dress without embellishments. A dramatic train and cathedral veil. Spectator shoes for Ross.

We got married at the church I grew up going to, St. Francis of Assisi in Metuchen, NJ. We picked the Park Chateau because of the size, food, bridal suite, dance floor and ability to make it fit our theme.

We had a selection of beef, chicken, fish, or vegan entrees with a salad as a starter. Our dessert was viennese and a vanilla and cherry wedding cake.

I tried on hundreds of gowns before I found the one. I liked all the ones I tried, but every one I put on I’d say “this is so beautiful”, but felt nothing. Finally, I gave in and took the train into NYC to go to Kleinfeld’s. The consultant and I picked out some dresses and started to try them on. After the first dress on the way back to the fitting room she saw one hanging up that had just been just tried on by someone else and rejected. She picked it up and said “you are going to fall in love with this dress”. As soon as I put it on the emotion was overwhelming and I began to tear up. I knew that this was my dress. It was everything I had asked for and it made me feel incredibly beautiful. It was an all lace, form fitted dress with a long train, and an open back.

My favorite moment was when I got to the altar from walking down the aisle and I was so nervous up to that point and I finally got to Ross and I said “oh thank God I made it”. I was so fearful the entire time that I would trip or something would go wrong, but when I got to Ross it felt perfect.

My absolute must for this wedding was wildflowers. I wanted it to look like a countryside in France or somewhere with all Queen Anne’s lace, sunflowers, and other bright colors. It took me a while to find a florist who could fit my vision, but my florist went above and beyond my expectations.

Absolutely nothing went wrong. The staff at the Park Chateau were incredible and kept everything running smoothly. There was an attendant standing behind me with my drink and a glass of water at all times. They really took all the stress of the day away.

All your prepping seems to take forever and gets super stressful, but the day goes by so fast you really have to take time and enjoy every moment. You have to sit down and eat your food drink your drink and dance and have a blast because it’s your day. Make sure you find a photographer who will be hands off during the reception and not pull you off of the dance floor and find a venue with bridal attendance that are really there to make your night the best night possible.

We went to Acadia National Park in Maine. We’ve never been to Maine and we’ve heard incredible things about it. Our bucket list is to visit every national park and Acadia National Park was our favorite one so far. It was absolutely stunning
