tracey-bill-engagementHow did you meet? We both were on the dating website match.com. I winked at him, he winked back. We briefly corresponded a few times via the website’s email and on Nov 26th, 2013 he asked me if I wanted to meet him for a drink at a local bar called Longshots (which closed down shortly after we met. We both still get a kick out of that and in the beginning of our dating Bill would crack jokes and say “Oooh boy that could be an omen!”) tracey-bill-engagementAnyway, at that time I was working on my master’s degree to become a nurse practitioner and I told him that I was doing school work and I would get back to him. Meanwhile I just used that as an excuse so I could really jump in the shower, fix my hair and put on my best jeans and sweater. tracey-bill-engagementWhen I arrived at the bar there was a handful of people in it and Bill was sitting by himself. I approached him introduce myself, shook his hand and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He bought me a beer and we proceeded to talk for several hours. It wasn’t until a couple of hours went by that I noticed there were a few people across the bar that kept staring at me. The next thing I know they were all waving at me and I asked Bill do you know them people and he said yes that’s my family. He proceeded to explain that it’s a tradition that when his family comes in for Thanksgiving that they always go out and have a few drinks. His brother kind of coached him on into inviting me out for a drink and basically said “you have nothing to lose.” tracey-bill-engagementSo, as the night went on, the conversations went on, and the laughter went on too. Everything felt so right and natural. It was effortless. I knew that very night that I had met my true love and soulmate and the man that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with to infinity and beyond. We have been together ever since and grow more in love everyday. When did you get engaged? 07/03/2017 Where did you get engaged? Lambertville, NJ tracey-bill-engagementHow did he ask? At the time my boyfriend and I had been going through some tough personal times and he randomly asked me if I would like to go away the weekend before 4th of July to spend time in New Hope PA. of course my immediate response was let’s go. When do we leave? So we packed our bags and took off that Monday. We arrived early at the Lambertville House (our favorite inn that we always stay in) but our room wasn’t ready. So we decided to cross the bridge and head over to New Hope, PA to walk along the streets holding hands while window shopping and enjoying a few cocktails at various different establishments such as the Triumph Brewery and the Lambertville Station. tracey-bill-engagementHe then suggested that we head back up to the room to unpack because our room most likely was ready. So I decided to freshen up because we were going to get some dinner. As I came out of the bathroom he was standing by the dresser and I approached him to give him a kiss and a hug and he looked me in the eyes and asked me “so how does Tracey Lynn Smith sound to you?” I responded by saying that sounds pretty good, and then he grabbed the ring box that he had hidden on the dresser behind him and then he got down on his knee and opened the ring box and said “So Tracey Lynn will you marry me?” My instantaneous response was that I screamed yes!! tracey-bill-engagementAnd then asked repeatedly “Are you sure?” “Are you sure?” As I cried and cried with tears of joy and complete astonishment and surprise. Never in a million years was I expecting that on that particular day, but I suddenly realized that this was real and it was happening to me and it made me love him more and more and only confirmed from the very first day that I met him that I fell in love with him and knew he was the one and that someday I would marry him. tracey-bill-engagementSo he popped open the bottle of champagne we, lit up a couple of cigars went out on the balcony and enjoyed one of the most happiest and unforgettable moments of our lives. Needless to say we never made it to dinner because all of the restaurants had closed by then, but it didn’t matter. I was the happiest woman on the planet with the love of my life so nothing really mattered. However, we were both up at like 6 a.m. because we were starving so I went down stairs first thing in the morning to grab the continental breakfast to eat in our room as we relaxed until check out time.
