“Over the past 6 years, Steve and I go to a concert called the WPL-J Summer Blast-Off Party at Jenkinson’s Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. The concert starts at 6am and brings in over 1,000 people. This year was special because The Goo Goo Dolls, one of my favorite bands, was in the lineup. Little did I know this year would be extra special! A few days before the concert, Steve called me with a surprise. He got us VIP tickets which allowed us to meet the band members and take pictures back stage. This had me so excited. I could not wait! Now looking back, this was the distraction. That morning we got up at 6am, got ready, and headed over to Jenkinson’s. Steve was acting totally normal and his usual self. We even stopped at Dunkin Donuts on the way to grab coffee and a small bite to eat. As soon as we arrived, we met one of the producers outside. They handed us our VIP passes. Then we ran through the kitchen to get to the back stage area of the concert. When we got inside we realized Goo Goo Dolls had already played. I was so upset. I could not believe we had missed them. Steve played it cool and went over to the bar, grabbed two drinks (don’t judge-it was the start of MDW and we had a stressful morning) and we started to enjoy the show.   Next thing I knew, I heard both our names being called over to come on stage. Munk (One of the producers from the radio) had told Steve that he won a trip to Aruba. I was in complete shock! Aruba?! As I was trying to figure out what was going on, I looked over and Steve was on one KNEE! I was in complete disbelief! He popped the big question and of course I said YES!!! Both of our family members were there to surprise me and celebrate. We celebrated all day and all weekend with our closest family and friends. It was one of the best and most memorable days of my life.”
